For several years, he coordinated the American activities of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship.  Being Orthodox, he was more aware of what was happening with the Church in Russia and Eastern Europe. When he attended the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (Kingston, Jamaica, 2011), he “caucused” with Orthodox from those countries, as well as from North America. In recent years, the confused and mercurial attitudes of President Trump toward Vladimir Putin, Russian hacking, the People’s Republic of China, and socialism as an ideology has again put those parts of the world in his thoughts.

Whether the issue is peace in the Middle East, addressing climate change, or combatting a global pandemic, America must continue to work on its rocky relationship to socialism and its adherents, if they are to forge a better future.
